NASSAU, The Bahamas—The National Computer Incident Response Team of The Bahamas (CIRT-BS) is proud to announce Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2024 with a focus on the theme, “Secure Our World.” The annual October recognition aims to empower individuals and organisations to prioritise cybersecurity in their daily lives to foster a safer digital environment for everyone.
In an increasingly interconnected world, the need for robust cybersecurity measures has never been more critical. This year’s “Secure Our World” international campaign promotes awareness and practical strategies that individuals, businesses, and communities can adopt to protect themselves from cyber threats.
“Cybersecurity is our collective responsibility, and we all have a part to play in managing cyber risks,” according to CIRT-BS Director, Sametria McKinney. “As we embrace the theme ‘Secure Our World,’ we encourage everyone to take proactive steps to protect their digital lives and contribute to a safer online community.”
CIRT-BS wishes to amplify this message in The Bahamas and throughout the region through a month-long series of outreach opportunities targeting the general Bahamian public. Key messages of the campaign include issues currently impacting The Bahamas in a major way. These include recognising and reporting phishing, using strong passwords and authentication, and protecting digital devices.
